Getting the show set up and ready for sound check. Just ran the Europe songs at the rehearsal space with Joey Tempest. Very cool!
Said good-bye to this and landed in Vegas at 7:30. Rehearsals tomorrow at 10am. More to come…
It’s been an amazing year for the 13-year-old tribute to “Big Rock” outfit. Hairball kick started their touring season by sharing the stage with Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Stephen Pearcy of RATT and Gene Simmons of KISS, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After a huge summer tour throughout the Midwest, including a four-night stint at Easyrider’s Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota, and two nights headlining the Iowa State Fair, Hairball flew to London with the Minnesota Vikings for a pre-game concert. (Hairball fans attribute the team’s only victory – at the time of this writing – to the band’s “booster gig”.) In October, Hairball headed south of the border to Hermosillo, Mexico, and played for more than 10,000 rock fans at Stereo 100′s 35-Year Anniversary concert.
Now the “Bombastic Celebration of Arena Rock” is ready to end the year with some surprises. On December 5th, at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Hairball will rock THE Fundraiser. Hairball will perform an energy-packed set, and then go on to provide the music for some of rock’s most notorious lead singers: Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Vince Neil, Dee Snider, Joey Tempest, and more. The performance is dedicated to raising money for Brennan Rock & Roll Academy (BRRA) which gives a musical outlet to kids from the Boys and Girls Club. Over the years, the band has been involved in several projects with Chuck Brennan and the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy (BRRA), but the December 5th show will make Hairball history. In addition to the special guest singers throughout the night, THE Fundraiser will close with the individual members of KISS performing a stripped-down set and a possible jam session.
Happy, Hairball’s lead guitarist and kicky emcee, explains the band’s connection to the charity: “Being a part of this Boys and Girls Club/Rock and Roll Academy organization is perfect for Hairball. Yeah, we got our start playing down and dirty in the clubs, and we still do, but we also play festivals and hockey arenas full of kids. Chuck Brennan, Alice Cooper and the guys in KISS, they all pay it forward to the kids. A lot of kids don’t fit in the “normal kid” mold. We, in Hairball, certainly did not. So having an outlet like the BRRA is something we can really get behind and support with our time and our hearts! Now, throw us on stage with all these guys that we idolize? That’s just crazy talk…we’ll gladly get on that bus!”
THE Fundraiser will also feature additional celebrities, auctions, VIP dinner and more. See the BRRA events page for all the details, including packages, tickets and updates for this once-in-a-lifetime event.
